On 11 May, the National Library of Ukraine for Children hosted the award ceremony for the Second International Children's Environmental Art Competition, "The Future of Our Planet Is in Our Hands!" INPOLIT was proud to once again join this inspiring initiative alongside a broad coalition of government institutions, international organisations, and civil society partners.
This year's theme, "From Destruction to Recovery: Life Is Stronger Than War," resonated with thousands of children, encouraging them to express their hopes for environmental restoration, peace, and Ukraine's future through art.
The 2026 coтеуіе received an impressive 5,025 entries, including 4,681 artworks from across Ukraine and 344 submissions from ten countries worldwide. Many of these international entries were created by Ukrainian children currently living abroad after being displaced by the war, whose artwork reflected a deep connection to their homeland and a hopeful vision for its recovery.
The ceremony brought together representatives of the Parliament of Ukraine, government institutions, international organisations, environmental authorities, and civil society. Speakers highlighted the importance of environmental education, international solidarity with Ukrainian children, and the power of art to inspire hope, resilience, and environmental responsibility.
Following the jury's evaluation, 33 winners across different age categories, as well as the Grand Prix recipients, were honoured during the ceremony. The winners received awards and souvenirs from organisers and partners, while winning artworks will also be featured in the competition's annual booklet.
For our team, it is a privilege to contribute to an initiative that inspires children to care for nature while expressing their creativity and resilience. We sincerely congratulate all winners and participants and thank our partners for their continued collaboration.
