Official Launch of the International Children's Environmental Drawing Contest 'The Future of the Planet is in Our Hands!'

On February 21, the National Library of Ukraine for Children hosted a press conference marking the official launch of the International Children's Environmental Drawing Contest 'The Future of the Planet is in Our Hands!'. This Сontest aims to raise awareness about environmental protection and inspire children to engage with ecological issues through creativity.

The event brought together representatives from international, governmental, and public organizations dedicated to environmental protection. The Contest’s partner organizers include:

• National Library of Ukraine for Children,

• Member of the Ukrainian Parliament (IX convocation) Olena Kryvoruchkina,

• Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine,

• State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine,

• United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP),

• OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine (OSCE SPU),

• United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF),

• National Union of Artists of Ukraine,

• Charitable Organization 'Mykola Tomenko’s Fund 'Native Country',

• Public Organization 'INPOLIT',

• Charitable Youth Initiative Fund 'Hope',

• Public Organization 'Ukrainian Association of Library Workers for Children'.

During the press conference, participants explored the crucial role of libraries in environmental education and discussed the significance of collaboration between governmental and public organizations in fostering ecological awareness among children. Particular attention was paid to supporting children displaced due to the war in Ukraine. Recognizing this, the organizing parties agreed to expand the contest internationally, allowing children from different countries to express their concern for the environment through art.
